2014 Divisional Breakdown

Division II

Division II (13 teams) was still the largest division in 2013. Division II was split into 3 conferences, the North (4 teams), the Central (5 teams) and South (4 teams). The North was composed of Alconbury, Menwith Hill/Woodham, ISB and Shape. The Central was composed of AFNORTH, Ansbach, Baumholder, Bitburg and Rota. The South had Hohenfels, Aviano, Naples, and Vicenza. Hohenfels was the South conference champion, Ansbach was the Central conference champion and SHAPE was the North conference champion.

The championship game featured explosive runs, game changing turnovers and penalties and a wild finish as Ansbach overcame an early Hohenfels lead to win 30-20.

Division I

Division I (6 teams) was very competitive this year.  Bill Ratcliff, former HC in Vilseck and Seoul American took over the program at Patch, which was the last year there as the school would move in location and name to "Stuttgart High School" in 2015.  Wiesbaden ran through the regular season undefeated. Ramstein, except for an overtime loss to Wiesbaden, also won impressively, setting up the championship game with Wiesbaden. The championship game was a surprise, as Ramstein thwarted Wiesbaden at every turn to win 17-0.

"Super 4" and "All Stars"

The SUPER 4 format was continued at Kaiserslautern's new turf field. After 5 consecutive years of AFN broadcasts, the game was streamed by an excellent coalition of students from Ramstein and Kaiserslautern. The weather was excellent and attendance was good. The high temperature for the day was over 60 degrees, with plenty of sun. Both games were exciting and competitive. Fantastic job by Denny DePriest and the Kaiserslautern community as the hosts for the SUPER 4 finals. The Kaiserslautern community hosted the North-South All-Star game. 64 players were chosen from 20 schools. It was an exciting week of practice and a great game (and good weather), won in a nail biter, 20-14, by the South.
